Kobo CEO, Michael Serbinis, suggests in the above CBC News article that publishers should release books in digital format first to test the market before printing them. I'm inclined to agree, and I often give the same advice to authors starting out on the self-publishing road.

I'm wondering why wait to publish in print when it can be done either free or for $39 at amazon's Createspace?. Why not do both print and Kindle, and other ebook formats? They do sell, both formats.

Hi, Linda! I just want to reply on your comment.
I don't mind downloading e-books since most of them are for free or come at a much cheaper price than those that are printed. However, there are some people out there, especially book lovers, who are happier when they get the hardbound or softbound copy of books.
But if I were to speak convenient-wise, I would just download the e-book or get it at Kindle. -
