Eason Secure Deal For Hughes & Hughes Airport Shops

The future of Hughes & Hughes seven airport bookshops and 120 staff has been secured following a deal struck late Wednesday evening between a Eason, the leading Irish bookshop chain, and the Dublin Airports Authority. This follows on from Hughes & Hughes going into receivership late last week.

Hughes & Hughes seven airport shops in Dublin and Cork have remained open since the collapse of the independent bookshop chain. The deal is a departure from the original agreement Hughes & Hughes had with the DAA. Eason will pay the DAA a percentage of turnover rather than paying for annual rents on the seven airport shops. The 120 staff who worked for Hughes & Hughes airport bookshops will now join Eason’s workforce of 1500. The deal officially comes into effect from tomorrow.
